Apple’s accessibility features add more AI-powered processing

One notable addition in the latest update is the introduction of on-device speech recognition for videos without captions, which will be supported on a range of Apple devices including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro. This feature will enhance accessibility for users with hearing impairments.

Another upcoming change involves the use of AI technology to provide more detailed descriptions in VoiceOver’s Image Explorer, cautioning users not to rely on these descriptions in potentially risky situations. Additionally, users will soon be able to ask questions about their surroundings using the Action button, offering a more interactive experience.

Apple is also introducing natural language navigation to the Voice Control system and expanding the capabilities of the Accessibility Reader to summarize complex content. These updates aim to improve the overall user experience for individuals with disabilities.

In addition to these AI-driven enhancements, Apple is launching the MagSafe-compatible Hikawa Grip & Stand in three colors on the Apple Store worldwide. This accessory will provide users with a secure and convenient way to use their devices.

The Apple Vision Pro will now be able to integrate with power wheelchair drive systems such as Tolt and LUCI in the US through its eye-tracking system. It will also support connectivity via Bluetooth or hardwired connections with the Developer Strap. Furthermore, the Vision Pro will feature Vehicle Motion Cues to reduce motion sickness for users wearing the headset in a moving vehicle.

Other updates mentioned in the press release include Larger Text support on tvOS and a new API for incorporating sign language interpreters in FaceTime calls. For more information on these changes and updates, please refer to the official press release.
