Upgrade Dilemma: Why You Should Consider Sticking with the Pixel 11 Pro
The Google Pixel 11 Pro has left me feeling underwhelmed, despite being a good device. It fails to live up to the pre-launch hype and doesn’t offer enough to justify the price difference from the previous Pixel 10 Pro. In my opinion, sticking with the older model is the way to go.
HiLight – A Disappointing Feature
The flagship feature of the Pixel 11 Pro, HiLight, is a notification light that has limited functionality. It only flashes for incoming calls from starred contacts or pulses based on Google’s Gemini AI assistant’s activities. The lack of customization options and limited usefulness make it a gimmicky addition to the phone.
If you care about intentional smartphone use, HiLight is not a valid solution
Studies have shown that the mere presence of a smartphone can negatively impact cognitive performance, making HiLight’s purpose questionable. The lack of support for third-party apps and limited customization options further diminish its value.
RAM Downgrade and Lack of Significant Upgrades
While the Pixel 11 Pro has a lower RAM capacity compared to its predecessor, it doesn’t seem to affect performance significantly. The new features like Tensor G6 and MediaTek modem don’t seem to offer a substantial improvement in performance or connectivity.
I fail to see a single upgrade that justifies buying the Pixel 11 Pro over the 10 Pro
The new cameras and AI camera features on the Pixel 11 Pro don’t seem to provide a noticeable upgrade in image quality compared to the Pixel 10 Pro. The reduced shutter lag is a plus, especially in low-light conditions, but overall, the differences are minimal.
Pixel 10 Pro – A Better Value
The Pixel 10 Pro offers better value for money, especially considering its lower price compared to the Pixel 11 Pro. While the newer model has double the storage capacity, the difference in price may not justify the upgrade. The design of the Pixel 10 Pro is also preferred by some users.
I’d argue that the Pixel 10 Pro actually looks better than its successor
The Pixel 10 Pro is not only more affordable but also offers a sleeker design compared to the Pixel 11 Pro. Opting for the older model can save you money without compromising on performance or features.
