Ariana Grande Files Lawsuit Against Hackers for Leaking Private Content

Pop star Ariana Grande recently took legal action by filing a lawsuit in the Los Angeles County Superior Court against unidentified hackers who allegedly stole and leaked her private content. The lawsuit aims to uncover the identities of these individuals, referred to as “John Doe 1 and John Does 2 through 100.” According to the lawsuit, a significant amount of unreleased material, including 45 songs, was hacked, stolen, and leaked in 2023 alone, with numerous similar incidents occurring since Grande’s music debut in 2011.

Stolen Content Includes Unreleased Masters and Behind-the-Scenes Footage

The stolen content reportedly consists of still-in-production, unreleased masters and demos, footage from recording sessions, music videos, behind-the-scenes photographs and videos, as well as album and photoshoot outtakes.

Hackers Accused of Selling and Publishing Stolen Content

The lawsuit accuses the hackers of not only selling the stolen content but also publishing it on various social media platforms such as X, TikTok, and YouTube. These actions are deemed as an invasion of Grande’s privacy and a violation of California’s Comprehensive Data Access and Fraud Act, a law that prohibits unauthorized computer access.

Repeated Targeting of Grande’s Associates

The lawsuit claims that the hackers have repeatedly targeted individuals working closely with Grande. In separate incidents, photos were stolen from a photographer’s Dropbox account in 2019, unreleased footage was taken from a producer’s mobile device in the following year, and phishing emails were used in 2024 to obtain unreleased photos from a technician associated with one of Grande’s photographers.
