Unveiling the Trump Phone T1: A Toddler-Friendly HTC U24 Pro
Recently, the Trump Phone T1 has started to become available to consumers in the United States. Despite being promoted as a product “Made in the USA,” it has been revealed that the Trump Phone T1 is largely based on the HTC U24 Pro, a phone originally designed and manufactured in Taiwan. While the T1 is said to be “assembled” in the US, the origins of its components raise some questions.
The phone also comes preloaded with the president’s Truth Social app and features a flag decal on the back that is missing two stripes. These details, along with the phone’s actual performance, have raised concerns among tech enthusiasts.
Our team at Tech Advisor specializes in reviewing mobile phones and we had the opportunity to assess the HTC U24 Pro, which serves as the foundation for the Trump Phone T1. Based on our experience with the U24 Pro, it’s evident that the T1 may not offer the value that its promoters claim.
Outdated Technology
In the rapidly evolving world of mobile technology, the HTC U24 Pro, which the Trump Phone T1 is based on, appears outdated. The U24 Pro was introduced to the market almost two years ago, making the T1 seem behind the times, even with its delayed release.
Performance Concerns
When the HTC U24 Pro was initially reviewed, it received a mediocre rating due to its performance compared to other mid-range phones. The U24 Pro featured a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, which was not competitive with devices like the OnePlus Nord 4 and Google Pixel 8a. Despite some positive aspects like design and camera quality, the U24 Pro had its share of bugs at launch.
Questionable Pricing
The Trump Phone T1 is being sold for $499, a price point similar to what the HTC U24 Pro was listed for in 2024. While the U24 Pro was not officially launched in the US market, it was available through import channels for around $549.99. This pricing strategy raises concerns about the value proposition of the Trump Phone T1, especially when compared to more recent offerings.
It is worth noting that Google faced criticism for releasing the Pixel 10a, essentially a rebranded version of the previous year’s model, at the same price point. Similarly, the Trump Phone T1’s similarities to the outdated HTC U24 Pro have led to skepticism about its competitiveness in the current market.
