Top Reasons to Choose the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra Over the iPad Pro M5

In the world of ultra-premium tablets, the competition has heated up once again. Samsung recently unveiled its Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra in September, and now Apple has responded with a new 2025 version of the iPad Pro. Both devices boast sleek designs, large displays, and top-notch performance on their respective operating systems. While they share some similarities, there are also key differences that could impact your choice between the two.
For me, the clear winner is the Tab S11 Ultra. Here’s why:
It’s big enough to actually replace my laptop
When investing in a tablet that costs £1,000/$1,000 or more, I expect it to be able to replace my laptop. While this may not be feasible for all users, as someone who primarily uses web browsing and mobile-friendly apps for work, the Tab S11 Ultra fits the bill. The tablet features a massive 14.6-inch display, larger than many laptops, with a stunning 120Hz OLED panel.

In comparison, the new iPad Pro offers a similar display but in 11- or 13-inch sizes. The extra screen real estate on the Tab S11 Ultra can make a significant difference when multitasking or using multiple apps simultaneously.
And more resistant to the elements
One of the standout features of the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is its robust build quality. With durable glass on the display and an aluminum back and frame, the tablet is built to last. Additionally, it boasts an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, ensuring it can withstand submersion in up to 1.5m of freshwater for 30 minutes.
On the other hand, the iPad Pro lacks an official water and dust resistance rating, making it less ideal for outdoor or rugged use.

Apple
For users like me who value durability and outdoor usability, the Tab S11 Ultra offers a clear advantage.
It plays nicer with Google apps
As someone deeply integrated into the Google ecosystem, the Tab S11 Ultra provides a more seamless experience with Google apps compared to the iPad Pro. While you can access Google apps on an iPad, the user experience may not be as intuitive or cohesive as on an Android device.
Furthermore, the issue of paid apps not carrying over from Android to iOS can be a significant drawback. Additionally, some apps that are free on Android may require payment on Apple devices, creating frustration for users.

AI on a tablet is important to me
When it comes to artificial intelligence, Google surpasses Apple in the mobile realm. Google’s Gemini AI assistant offers superior capabilities compared to Siri, seamlessly integrated into the operating system. Features like Circle to Search and Samsung’s Galaxy AI editing tools provide a more advanced AI experience on the Tab S11 Ultra.

While Apple is making strides in AI, Google’s advancements are more robust and readily available, making the Tab S11 Ultra a better choice for AI enthusiasts.
It’s cheaper (for the model I’d want)
On the surface, the iPad Pro may appear more affordable than the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, starting at £999/$999. However, the base price of the iPad Pro is for the 11-inch model. To upgrade to the 13-inch version, you’ll need to shell out at least £1,299/$1,299, making it £100/$100 more expensive than the Tab S11 Ultra.
When factoring in accessories, the cost difference becomes even more apparent.
A stylus is included in the box
To enhance productivity, both tablets may require additional investment in keyboard covers. Samsung’s Slim Book Keyboard Cover typically costs £199/$199, while Apple’s Magic Keyboard is priced at £299/$299. However, Samsung includes its S Pen stylus in the box, a valuable tool for note-taking and digital art.
