Google Speeds Up Chrome’s Update Schedule to Every Two Weeks
Chrome Introduces Two-Week Release Cycle
With the ever-evolving web platform, Chrome is committed to providing developers and users with immediate access to the latest enhancements and features. To align with the demands of the modern web, Chrome has decided to transition to a two-week release cycle. Despite the increased frequency of releases, the smaller scope of each release aims to minimize disruptions and simplify post-release troubleshooting. Through recent process improvements, Chrome is confident that this change will uphold its high standards for stability.
This shift in the release cycle applies to Chrome on desktop, Android, and iOS platforms, starting with the stable release of Chrome 153 on September 8th. Beta releases will also follow the new two-week cycle. However, there will be no modifications to the Dev and Canary channels, while the Extended Stable version for enterprise administrators and Chromium embedders will maintain their eight-week release cycle.
