WhatsApp Unveils Parental Control Feature for Accounts – Tech Advisor

WhatsApp has announced the introduction of parent-managed accounts to ensure safer messaging for children.

Parents now have the option to create a new WhatsApp account for their pre-teen kids and link it to their own account. This allows them to control who can contact their child and which groups they can join.

Upon linking the accounts, parents gain exclusive access to privacy controls for their children’s accounts, secured by a six-digit PIN. They can also review message requests from unknown numbers.

Parent-managed WhatsApp accounts can be set up during the account creation process by selecting “Create a parent-managed account” under More options.

Following the step-by-step guide, parents can link their WhatsApp account by scanning a QR code on their child’s device with their own phone.

Parent-managed accounts are currently being rolled out globally, so users should watch for updates in their respective app stores.

WhatsApp continues to enhance its features, recently allowing users to share up to 100 recent messages with new group members for quick catch-up.

The messaging service’s web app is also showing potential support for video and voice calls, making it easier to connect with contacts on different devices.

As WhatsApp evolves, it plans to offer users a choice between viewing ads or opting for an ad-free experience through a subscription model.
