Xbox Cloud Gaming’s pay-as-you-go option starts at $3.99 for 10 hours

Microsoft Introduces Pay-As-You-Go Model for Xbox Cloud Gaming

In a recent announcement, Microsoft revealed that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be accessible to all users starting in November, without the need for an Xbox Game Pass subscription. This new pay-as-you-go model will require players to purchase bundles of cloud hours, with prices starting at $3.99 for 10 hours of gameplay.

Xbox Insiders Offered Early Access to Cloud Playtime

Xbox Insiders without a Game Pass subscription can begin purchasing cloud playtime today, with a wider release planned for the following month. Insiders can take advantage of special “introductory” pricing on bundles.

These cloud hour bundles promise ad-free gaming, reduced wait times, and improved streaming quality. Unlike monthly subscriptions, once a bundle is purchased, it remains available until all hours are used up.

Xbox Cloud Gaming and the Arrival of Grand Theft Auto VI

The introduction of the pay-as-you-go Xbox Cloud Gaming option coincides with the anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto VI. Microsoft recently acquired streaming rights for the game, although it is unclear if this will be exclusive to Xbox consoles. Xbox’s chief strategy officer mentioned that Grand Theft Auto VI may not be available for streaming on PCs through the usual Xbox Cloud Gaming platforms.

Free, Ad-Supported Cloud Gaming for Xbox Insiders

Microsoft is also testing free, ad-supported cloud gaming for Xbox Insiders, providing another option for playing games without a Game Pass subscription. These free sessions are limited to games owned by the player and are capped at one hour each.
