iOS 26.4 Update: What’s New?

The latest iOS 26.4 update has arrived, bringing with it a variety of small yet significant enhancements. One of the standout features is the introduction of the Playlist Playground in beta on Apple Music. This innovative tool utilizes AI technology to create personalized song playlists based on a text prompt, complete with a title, description, and tracklist.

Exciting Additions to Apple Music

Apple Music users can now enjoy a new concert discovery feature that helps them find nearby shows featuring artists from their music library, as well as recommendations for new artists. Additionally, the update includes full-screen backgrounds for album and playlist pages, along with an Offline Music Recognition tool that can identify songs without an internet connection and provide results once back online.

Enhancements to Family Sharing and Emoji

Apple’s Family Sharing feature now allows each adult member to add their own payment methods for purchases, rather than relying solely on the group organizer’s method. The update also introduces eight new emoji, including an orca, trombone, landslide, ballet dancer, and distorted face. Additionally, the keyboard’s accuracy when typing quickly has been improved.

Accessibility Improvements and macOS Update

iOS 26.4 includes new accessibility features such as an enhanced “reduce bright effects” setting to minimize flashes when tapping on elements like buttons. Subtitle and caption settings are now easier to access, and the “reduce motion” setting effectively reduces animations. Meanwhile, macOS 26.4 introduces a compact tab bar option in Safari and the ability to set charging limits to preserve battery lifespan.
