From Amazon HQ to Ceramic Haven: Seattle’s New Creative Hub

Pottery Northwest Relocating to New Home at Amazon Headquarters Tower in Seattle
Pottery Northwest, a well-established ceramics nonprofit in Seattle, has announced its upcoming move to a new location situated at the base of an Amazon headquarters tower.
The organization, which has been in operation for 59 years, will be relocating from Pioneer Square to a spacious 10,000-square-foot venue within Amazon’s Nitro North building in the Denny Triangle neighborhood.
Previously occupied by Glassybaby, the new space offers Pottery Northwest the opportunity to utilize its large gas kilns, a crucial component for advanced ceramics work.
With plans to open in fall 2026 under a 10-year lease, Pottery Northwest aims to provide ceramics workspaces, classes, exhibitions, artist talks, and more at its new location.
Additionally, the facility will feature a prominent retail space and free parking, enhancing accessibility for visitors and artists alike.
The move of Pottery Northwest to Amazon’s downtown campus aligns with a similar transition made by Gage Academy of Art last year, showcasing a trend of arts nonprofits integrating into the tech giant’s urban landscape.
Amazon’s commitment to supporting the arts is evident through initiatives such as providing rent assistance to Gage Academy and fostering a creative environment within the city.
In preparation for the relocation, Pottery Northwest has launched a fundraising campaign to raise $2.1 million for the construction and activation of its new home.
Expressing enthusiasm for the move, Ed King, executive director of Pottery Northwest, emphasized the positive impact of the new facility on Seattle’s creative economy and community building efforts.
