London’s Kohort raises €6 million Series A to build AI user acquisition agents for mobile game studios

Kohort Secures €5.9 Million Series A Funding Round Led by The Raine Group

Kohort, a mobile gaming analytics, forecasting, and UA optimization company based in London, has successfully closed its Series A funding round, raising €5.9 million ($7 million). The primary objective of this funding is to develop user acquisition (UA) agents tailored for mobile game studios.

The funding round was spearheaded by The Raine Group (Raine), a prominent global merchant bank headquartered in New York, with a strong focus on advisory and principal investments in the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) sectors. Raine had previously invested in Kohort’s Seed round.

“We are focused on building agents, not just a Claude wrapper, along with the predictive capabilities necessary to enable this. User acquisition poses significant challenges for mobile gaming studios. The most successful UA teams function more like high-frequency traders than traditional marketers, requiring agents that can act based on real context rather than vague signals,” stated Dan Marcus, the CEO of Kohort.

Established in 2018, Kohort specializes in mobile gaming analytics, forecasting, and UA optimization, offering a predictive analytics platform powered by machine learning for decision-makers in the gaming and consumer industries.

The company assists mobile game studios, operators, finance teams, and investors in maximizing user acquisition expenditure and conducting M&A due diligence using machine learning and cohort-based forecasting.

Kohort’s core belief is that accurate long-term predictions are crucial for UA success in a landscape where every AI company is striving to provide agents with the right context. This belief forms the foundation of the UA operating system being developed by Kohort.

According to Kohort, existing UA agents often optimize campaigns without a deep understanding of the ad network algorithm’s workings, the impact of changes in signals, the conflict between short- and long-term LTV, and the goal of achieving efficient UA spending while scaling revenue.

The company is concentrating on three key capabilities within its agent suite. Firstly, campaign optimization and the enhancement of Kohort’s flagship product, Ktrl, which generates network-specific bidding strategies and targets for every campaign, supporting various campaign types and driving campaigns towards 100% ROAS.

The second capability involves on-demand research into UA trends, leveraging historical data and benchmarking against the substantial annual spend flowing through Kohort’s platform, offering insights similar to those of a senior UA manager instantly.

The third capability is automated reporting, providing tailored comprehensive reports automatically for various functions within a studio, ensuring alignment across different teams.

Kohort emphasizes that all three agents are underpinned by predictive models trained on a significant amount of historical UA spend, delivering daily campaign-specific predictions with 95% accuracy. The platform seamlessly integrates with a studio’s existing data infrastructure and can train client-specific models in under 20 minutes.

“Kohort is well-positioned to lead the way in UA Agents and address the primary challenge faced by mobile apps today. The team at Kohort, with their AI expertise, is capable of delivering high-quality results efficiently. We believe that Kohort’s predictive LTV capabilities and UA optimization technology lay the groundwork for potential future collaborations, including the prospect of introducing a new product focused on user acquisition financing,” commented John Salter, Partner and co-founder at The Raine Group.
