AI Product Teams on Demand: Stockholm’s Pit Emerges from Stealth with €13.6 Million from a16z
Pit, a Stockholm-based AI Startup, Launches with €13.6 Million in Funding
Pit, a cutting-edge AI startup headquartered in Stockholm, has officially announced its public launch, accompanied by a significant funding injection of €13.6 million ($16 million). The funding round was spearheaded by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) and saw participation from notable investors such as Lakestar, key executives from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Deel, and Revolut, as well as the influential Stena and Lundin families.
“For 20 years, enterprises have been constrained by software that dictates their operations. With AI, we are revolutionizing this approach. Companies can now design and operate on systems tailored to their unique needs,” expressed Adam Jafer, the CEO and co-founder of Pit.
Founded by the brilliant minds behind Voi, Klarna, and iZettle, Pit is entering the market as a premier AI product team offering a service that empowers companies to develop and implement bespoke, high-quality software solutions for their internal business processes.
Despite the significant investment of over $1 trillion in digital transformation by enterprises in recent years, core business operations across various industries still heavily rely on inefficient tools such as spreadsheets, inboxes, and inflexible SaaS platforms that were never tailored to meet actual operational needs. Pit aims to disrupt this paradigm by introducing AI-native software custom-built to align with each company’s workflows, enabling teams to operate more efficiently, scale seamlessly, and accelerate their workflows without being hindered by legacy systems.
Pit’s platform consists of two fundamental components: Pit Studio, which learns and adapts to user behaviors to construct operational systems automatically, and Pit Cloud, a secure infrastructure offering tenant isolation, ISO 27001 compliance, single sign-on (SSO), role-based access control (RBAC), and comprehensive audit observability.
Setting itself apart from traditional low-code tools and AI copilots, Pit emphasizes that its software generates tangible operational solutions, not just experimental prototypes.
With a strong focus on security and compliance, Pit Cloud features robust measures such as SSO, RBAC, detailed audit trails, and observability. The platform aligns with ISO 27001 standards, complies with GDPR regulations, and is designed to meet NIS2 and the EU AI Act requirements, ensuring each customer has a fully isolated environment within the EU.
“Speed is a common offering in the AI industry, but Pit delivers enduring speed, secured governance, and long-lasting solutions. It represents a new category in the market,” remarked Alex Rampell, General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz.
Pit has already launched pilot programs with leading enterprises in logistics, telecom, e-commerce, and healthcare, partnering with companies like Voi, Tre, Stena Recycling, and Kry. These collaborations have resulted in rapid system deployments within days or weeks, showcasing impressive outcomes such as an 85% reduction in campaign execution time, annual time savings exceeding 10,000 hours per deployment, and a remarkable 99% invoice acceptance rate through automation.
One notable success story involves Pit’s implementation at a major European industrial firm, where legacy contract and invoice validation processes were replaced by an AI-powered system capable of real-time processing, resulting in over 10,000 hours saved annually with zero validation errors.
