Xbox Delays Fable Game Release to February 2027

Xbox recently announced a delay in the release of the highly anticipated game, Fable. Originally scheduled for autumn this year, the game will now be launched in February 2027. The decision was made to ensure that the role-playing series revival receives the attention and dedication it truly deserves.

The news of the delay was shared just before the Summer Game Fest, where Xbox Games Showcase is set to take place on 7th June. In their statement on social media, Xbox stated, “This year is packed with incredible games for Xbox players to enjoy, from Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 to Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and Grand Theft Auto VI.”

Grand Theft Auto VI is still on track for its release on 19th November, and Xbox aims to avoid overlapping with this release. The latter part of 2026 will see a lineup of shooter games from Xbox, including Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, and Modern Warfare 4.

The new launch date for Fable means it will be released close to two other highly anticipated RPGs, Exodus from the ex-BioWare team at Archetype and The Expanse: Osiris Rising from Owlcat Games, both expected in the first half of 2027. Despite this, Fable’s unique fantasy setting will set it apart from these sci-fi adventures.

Fable, featured during the Developer Direct stream in January, offers players a rich gaming experience. Players start as a child in Briar Hill, discovering their heroic powers amidst a mysterious turn of events that lead them on an adventure to uncover the truth.

The game features a vast open world, including locations like Bowerstone, Fairfax Castle, and Bloodstone, where players can engage in various activities such as property management, blacksmithing, and even starting a family. The game world is populated by a diverse cast of characters who follow their own routines, adding depth to the gameplay experience.

Originally announced in 2020, Fable has seen a series of delays, with the latest pushing its release to 2027. Despite the extended wait, Head of Xbox Game Studios Craig Duncan assures fans that the game will be worth it, expressing confidence in the development team at Playground.

Fable will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC simultaneously, along with inclusion in the top tiers of Game Pass.
