Sony Santa Monica has recently announced their upcoming project, the next installment in the renowned God of War series. In a surprising twist, players will have the opportunity to step into the shoes of a character other than Kratos – none other than Kratos’ deceased wife.
The game introduces Faye, also known as Laufey the Just, portrayed by the talented Deborah Ann Woll. Despite her untimely demise, Faye showcases remarkable agility as she navigates the afterlife. The narrative unfolds as Kratos and Atreus lay her to rest in the forest, only for her spirit to awaken in a realm known as the Everywhen – the divine afterlife where all magic originates and converges.
However, Faye’s entry into this realm is anything but welcoming. Attacked by the flora and confronted by deities from Egyptian and Tibetan mythologies, she finds herself imprisoned. It is here that she encounters unusual companions – a talking gelatinous cube named Phranque and a sentient sword, Rue. Together, they unveil the vast expanse of the afterlife, encompassing various mythologies, and urge Faye to harness her latent powers and break free.
Empowered by Rue’s mystical sword, Faye showcases formidable combat skills, including a ribbon-whipping technique, the ability to extract souls with the Golden Hand of the Jötnar, and unleash devastating finishing moves.
