The McLaren MCL-HY Le Mans Hypercar Takes to the Track

The latest addition to McLaren’s lineup, the MCL-HY Le Mans hypercar, made its debut last month, signaling the brand’s entry into the 2027 World Endurance Championship. Recently, the hypercar has embarked on its track testing journey, gearing up for the upcoming competition.

Spotted at the renowned Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit in Imola, the MCL-HY was put through its paces during a private testing session organized by McLaren. Enthusiasts were treated to the sight and sound of the hypercar as it zipped around the track, showcasing its twin-turbo 2.9 V6 hybrid engine through exhilarating fly-bys. Various skilled drivers took turns behind the wheel, pushing the limits of the new machine.

Despite its recent unveiling, the McLaren MCL-HY, featuring a Dallara chassis, impressed onlookers with its performance during its inaugural track testing session. With its promising debut, anticipation is high for its participation in the 2027 World Endurance Championship.

In addition to the MCL-HY, McLaren has also developed a GTR variant set to be delivered to select “VIP McLaren clients” by the end of the following year. Setting itself apart from its hybrid counterpart, the GTR version boasts a raw, twin-turbo 2.9-litre V6 engine generating approximately 720 bhp.
