Revolutionizing Your Digital Photo Frame: The Impact of the Latest Google Photos Update
Aura’s Digital Photo Frames Update: Google Photos Integration
Aura has recently announced that their digital photo frames will now seamlessly sync with your Google Photos albums, despite previous API changes that threatened to remove this feature. This update includes a full migration to Google’s new Ambient API, ensuring that your Aura frame slideshows are automatically updated with new photos without the need for manual intervention.
According to Aura, the updated Google Photos integration allows users to directly add photos from the Google Photos app or sync entire Google Photos albums to keep Aura frames constantly refreshed. This means that photos are seamlessly sent from Google Photos to your Aura frames, eliminating the hassle of manual uploads.
Previously, Aura users relying on auto-sync with Google Photos were informed that this feature would be disabled due to changes in how apps access Google Photos libraries. However, Aura has successfully worked with Google to maintain this functionality by fully transitioning to the new API.
With the introduction of Google’s new Ambient API, there are a few notable changes. Users will now be adding photos for Aura frames directly through the Google Photos app instead of Aura’s platform. Additionally, manual photo selection will now be done via Google’s sharesheet for iOS users or through a new in-app photo selector tool for Android users.
Existing auto-sync users are required to reconnect their Google Photos albums within the Aura app to ensure continuous syncing with new photos. By simply opening the Aura app, selecting your frame, tapping the “Add Photos” option, and connecting your Google account, you can maintain seamless album updates. New Aura customers will need to set up and utilize auto-sync and manual photo adding capabilities through the iOS share sheet or Android tool.
