Google TV Devices Receive Unexpected Gemini Upgrade
Google’s Gemini Upgrade Surprises Sony Bravia TV Owners
Exciting news for Sony Bravia TV owners as the highly anticipated Gemini upgrade unexpectedly appeared on their devices. Google had previously announced plans to replace the Assistant feature with Gemini, a more advanced version, with a promised release in 2025.
In early September, the upgrade made its debut on TCL QM9K TVs and was confirmed to launch on other TCL models and the 2025 Hisense U8, U7, and UX models. Additionally, Google TV Streamer and Walmart Onn 4K Pro streaming box were also included in the list of upgraded devices.
Despite Sony not being initially highlighted on Google’s list, a Reddit screenshot revealed that Gemini appeared on Sony Bravia TVs after a Google TV Home app update from the Play Store.
The Gemini upgrade enhances voice command communication, primarily focusing on improving the search process on the TV. Users can also ask questions on various topics, including daily news updates. Additionally, users have the option to personalize the assistant’s voice with 10 different options, each named after flowers, aligning with Google’s Nest smart speakers.
By introducing Gemini to Sony Bravia TVs, Google hints at a potential wider rollout in the near future, promising an enhanced user experience across its smart home portfolio.
