Safety Recall Issued for 1.27M Ram 1500 Trucks Due to Rear Seatbelt Hazard

Ram recently announced a voluntary recall of over 1,271,294 Ram 1500 pickup trucks spanning from the model years 2019 to 2026. This recall affects 156,138 vehicles in Canada, 74,084 in Mexico, and an undisclosed number in the US and other countries.

The reason behind the recall is a potential issue with the seatbelt anchors in the center and driver-side rear seats. Some vehicles may have been manufactured with seatbelt anchors that were not securely attached to the vehicle. In the event of a crash, these incorrectly attached anchors may fail to protect the passenger, leading to an increased risk of injuries and non-compliance with federal safety standards.

Affected truck owners will receive notification from the automaker instructing them to bring their vehicles to a dealership for inspection. During the inspection, a technician will examine the seatbelt buckles in the rear seats and, if necessary, securely attach them to the vehicle’s body at no cost to the owner.

Ram will be submitting official documents to the United States National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) regarding the recall. While the official documents are not yet available, concerned owners can check the NHTSA recall website for updates once the recall is finalized.
