The App Store’s New Subscription Bundle Feature: What You Need to Know

The App Store is going to add subscription bundles soon

Bundled Subscriptions for iPhone Apps Coming Soon

Apple has announced that later this year, users will have the option to purchase bundled subscriptions for iPhone apps. This expansion of the App Store bundles will allow for offers from various companies to be included. Similar to streaming video bundles that combine offers for platforms like Apple TV and Peacock, these new bundles could potentially bring together subscriptions for entirely different services, such as Instagram Plus and Tinder Platinum.

Introducing Suites – A Convenient Subscription Option

In addition to bundled subscriptions, Apple is also introducing Suites, which are sets of subscriptions that cannot be purchased individually. Users will have the option to buy these subscriptions as a single package for added convenience.

During the WWDC event, TechCrunch and 9to5Mac reported on these new developments. Apple not only announced the new subscription options but also introduced changes to the App Store guidelines. These changes include stricter rules on removing apps that are not regularly updated or fail to attract users. Furthermore, Apple is no longer mandating support for Intel chips in older Macs for apps on the Mac App Store. Developers will now need to disclose whether their apps or games have “social media capabilities” for age rating and Screen Time monitoring.

Apple has promised to share more details on the bundles and suites closer to the launch of iOS 27 and other platform updates in the fall. Stay tuned for further updates on these exciting new features!
