iOS 27 makes it easier to switch between Apple Pay cards

Apple has introduced a revamped checkout flow for Apple Pay in iOS 27, enhancing the user experience for both apps and websites. These changes aim to simplify the process of switching between payment cards and provide essential order details.

The latest update allows users to seamlessly swipe between payment cards directly within the main Apple Pay interface. Additionally, tapping on a card now reveals a grid-style layout showcasing all available Apple Pay cards in one convenient location.

Apple elaborates on the redesign:

Apple Pay now features an updated design for web and in-app checkouts, enabling users to effortlessly swipe to switch cards. This design also highlights crucial information about their Apple Wallet cards, such as rewards, balances, debit account balance, pay later options, and more, empowering users to make well-informed payment decisions.

Merchants and developers now have the ability to customize the information displayed on the Apple Pay payment sheet, tailoring it to suit the specific requirements of each order.

The previous iteration of the Apple Pay checkout flow in iOS 26 faced criticism for its lack of intuitiveness. Users often struggled to switch between payment cards, as tapping on a card would redirect them to the address-editing interface instead. This caused confusion, requiring an additional tap on a separate button at the bottom to switch to a different card. The latest update in iOS 27 addresses these issues, streamlining the process and enhancing clarity.
