Future Tech: AirPods 2027 with AI Cameras and Folding iPhone 2.0
Exciting Updates on Apple’s Future Hardware
Following the recent WWDC event where Apple unveiled its upcoming AI-powered features, Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman has shared more insights into the rumored new hardware products. One of the highlights is the anticipated launch of camera-equipped AirPods, scheduled for late 2027. While beta releases for iOS 27 are underway, the new earbuds are already undergoing internal testing with iOS 28, set for the following year.
The camera-equipped AirPods will feature lights to indicate data upload to the cloud and cameras in their stems. These additions aim to provide enhanced visual context to Siri, paving the way for Apple’s future release of smart glasses.
Another exciting development is the second-generation foldable phone, expected to succeed the model rumored for release this fall. This move signifies Apple’s commitment to the foldable phone category, with potential improvements to leverage the additional screens more effectively. Gurman hints at a foldable phone with better app compatibility and battery performance compared to existing models.
In addition, Gurman mentions the upcoming “20th-anniversary” iPhone models, referred to as V73 and V74. These devices are anticipated to offer nearly edge-to-edge displays with curved glass wrapping around the sides, following the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max this year.
While the standard iPhone 18 may see a delayed launch, it is expected to feature an A20 series chip similar to the upcoming fall releases. Future iPhone models in 2027 are projected to transition to a 2nm A21 chip, with plans for further advancements to 1.4nm technology in the A22 Pro. Apple is reportedly exploring the possibility of involving Intel in production alongside its current partner, TSMC.
These developments align with previous speculations about the introduction of the slim iPhone Air. However, with John Ternus assuming the role of Apple’s CEO, potential RAM and component shortages looming, and the pervasive integration of AI, even well-established plans could undergo alterations.
