Gate2Brain Secures €7 Million Investment and Strategic Partnership with Shilpa Biocare Pvt Ltd

Gate2Brain, a cutting-edge BioTech company based in Spain, has recently announced a significant milestone in its journey. The company has successfully secured a substantial €7 million investment, marking the largest funding round in its history. This investment, which represents a 30.4% equity stake, also includes a strategic partnership with Shilpa Biocare Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Shilpa Medicare Limited.

Dr. Meritxell Teixidó, the CEO & CSO of Gate2Brain, expressed gratitude towards the company’s supporters, investors, and partners for their unwavering confidence and commitment. This support has been instrumental in advancing Gate2Brain’s mission and technology platform.

Founded in 2020 as a spin-off from IRB Barcelona, the University of Barcelona, and Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Barcelona, Gate2Brain is dedicated to addressing the high unmet medical needs in paediatric and adult brain tumors, as well as other central nervous system diseases.

The company has garnered support from prominent public and private institutions such as Fundación Botín, Banco Sabadell, CDTI Innovación, the European Innovation Council, ACCIÓ Startup Capital, and Fundación ”la Caixa”.

Gate2Brain’s lead candidate, G2B-002, is a key focus of the partnership with Shilpa Biocare Pvt Ltd. This candidate utilizes Gate2Brain’s innovative MiniAp4 peptide shuttle to overcome the challenge of delivering therapeutics across the blood-brain barrier. Promising preclinical studies have shown enhanced brain delivery and reduced side effects in pediatric brain tumors.

Through the collaboration with Shilpa Biocare Pvt Ltd, which brings expertise in manufacturing, CMC development, and regulatory strategy, Gate2Brain aims to accelerate the development of G2B-002. Additionally, the partnership seeks to expand the company’s technology platform into new therapeutic areas and CNS applications.
