Wyze’s Long-Lasting Video Doorbell: Six Months of Battery Life on a Budget
Wyze Introduces Affordable Wyze Battery Video Doorbell
Wyze has recently unveiled its latest budget-friendly doorbell camera, the Wyze Battery Video Doorbell. Resembling the previously released Video Doorbell v2 from 2023, this new model is equipped with a rechargeable battery, making installation a breeze without the need for wiring or access to power. However, users have the option to utilize wired power for unlocking additional features.
Features and Pricing
The Wyze Battery Video Doorbell is now available for purchase on the company’s online store for $65.98. In comparison, the wired-only Video Doorbell v2 was launched two years ago at $39.99 and is currently offered bundled with a wireless chime for $59.98. While the new battery-powered version boasts a slightly lower resolution of 1536 x 1536 compared to the v2’s 2048 x 1536, it features a wider 150-degree viewing angle in both horizontal and vertical directions, providing a comprehensive “head-to-toe 1:1 view” of your front porch area.
Battery Life and Storage Options
The Wyze Battery Video Doorbell offers a battery life of up to six months between charges, depending on the level of activity around the porch area. Users can store event footage captured when motion is detected or the doorbell is pressed locally on a microSD card of up to 256GB. Cloud storage is also available through a subscription ranging from $2.99 to $19.99 per month, providing access to advanced features such as AI-powered person and package detection. Continuous 24/7 recording to the memory card is supported only when the doorbell is hardwired to a power source.
Additional Features and Installation
The Wyze Battery Video Doorbell is rated IP65 for weather resistance, allowing installation on doors exposed to the elements without protection from an overhang. In addition to two-way talk and access to prerecorded responses via the Wyze mobile app, a deterrence feature automatically plays a voice prompt to notify visitors that they are being recorded.
