Exploring the Enhanced iPhone Mirroring Features in macOS 27

Utilizing iPhone Mirroring on a daily basis allows me to easily access my iPhone directly from my Mac, and the experience is set to improve further this year. The recent release of iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate public betas introduced three significant updates to iPhone Mirroring. Let’s delve into what’s new.

macOS 27: Enhanced Features for iPhone Mirroring

A notable enhancement for iPhone Mirroring in macOS 27 is the newfound ability to resize the iPhone Mirroring window.

As highlighted by my colleague Marcus recently, users can now adjust the size of the iPhone Mirroring window with any iOS 27-compatible apps. Initially, this feature is limited to Apple’s native iPhone apps, but as developers gradually roll out iOS 27 updates later in the year, support for resizing will expand significantly.

Previously, iPhone Mirroring on macOS was limited to three preset sizes: smaller, actual size, and larger. The adaptation in macOS 27 Golden Gate and iOS 27 clearly indicates Apple’s anticipation of the foldable iPhone Ultra, expected to debut later this year.

Additionally, iPhone Mirroring in macOS 27 and iOS 27 introduces several other updates:

• Control Center access
• DRM video support

Previously, iPhone Mirroring lacked support for accessing Control Center altogether. With macOS 27, users can access it through the CMD+4 keyboard shortcut or via the “View” menu in the Mac’s menu bar.

DRM video support enables users to watch protected videos using iPhone Mirroring on their Mac. Previously, all DRM-protected videos would display a black screen when iPhone Mirroring was active.

macOS 27 also introduces a new app icon for iPhone Mirroring, aligning with the updates seen in various other stock Apple apps.
