Apple TV’s Expanded Library: Stream 19 Classic Movies for Free

Apple TV subscribers have been treated to a new selection of old movies available for free, expanding the platform’s offerings beyond its usual focus on original content. While Apple has primarily focused on producing new shows and movies, there have been discussions about adding existing content to the platform, particularly iconic franchises like Peanuts and Fraggle Rock.

Free movie offerings on Apple TV have been limited but well-received in the past. Two years ago, subscribers were delighted with a collection of 51 classic movies, including titles like The Accountant and Zoolander. Some of these films had connections to Apple projects, such as Saving Private Ryan linking to HBO’s Band of Brothers and subsequently Apple’s Masters of the Air.

The recent addition of a new batch of free movies on Apple TV offers subscribers a varied selection of films. The lineup differs by country, with the US enjoying access to 19 titles, while Canada and the UK have six available. US subscribers can watch popular movies like The Aviator, E.T., and Titanic, among others.

It remains uncertain how long these free movie offerings will last, but they are likely to be temporary. Apple TV also boasts a strong collection of over 300 Apple Originals, including hit shows like Ted Lasso and exclusive sports content like F1 racing. Subscribing to Apple TV costs $12.99 per month following a price increase last year, but an annual subscription remains a cost-effective option at $99 per year.
