Apple’s Houston Manufacturing Center: A Hub of Innovation and Technology

Apple recently unveiled its new Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) in Houston, a facility dedicated to training and educating US businesses. This marks Apple’s second manufacturing learning site in the United States.

As part of its commitment to invest half a trillion dollars in the US over four years, Apple opened its first Apple Manufacturing Academy in Detroit in July following an early 2025 promise. In collaboration with Michigan State University, the Academy provided free, Apple-sponsored courses to assist small and medium-sized American businesses in transitioning to advanced manufacturing techniques, leveraging AI and other smart technologies.

The initiative also involved Apple engineers offering free consultations to American companies, both virtually and in person, to enhance their supply chains. A report from late 2025 highlighted the positive impact of these consultations in helping small businesses establish more efficient systems, drawing from lessons learned from past challenges like “bendgate.”

Apple’s new Advanced Manufacturing Center in Houston will continue this trend by offering “free training and educational sessions for small- and medium-sized businesses, providing them with hands-on experience using cutting-edge equipment, interactive labs, and tools to drive innovation.”

The new AMC is situated within the same Houston facility where Apple manufactures its Private Cloud Compute (PCC) servers and will soon start producing the Mac mini.

The opening of the Houston AMC was commemorated with a significant kickoff event attended by notable figures such as US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, US Senator Ted Cruz, Houston Mayor John Whitmire, US Representative Christian Menefee, and Harris County Precinct One Commissioner Rodney Ellis, among other officials and community partners.

“In less than nine months, we have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in this Houston facility. We established a factory, initiated production, and shipped the first advanced AI servers off the line. Today, we are excited to unveil our new Advanced Manufacturing Center, a hub where businesses, workers, and students can learn the innovative processes that drive Apple’s groundbreaking products. We are also looking forward to commencing Mac mini production later this year,” stated Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “We have faith in American workers and American innovation, and we are progressing rapidly because our objective is not just to create great products, but to shape the future of American manufacturing.”

“The opening of this facility signifies Apple’s commitment to reintroducing its manufacturing to America,” noted US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick. “Through this Advanced Manufacturing Center, Apple will equip American workers with the necessary skills to lead the next wave of technology.”

The 20,000-square-foot center will offer businesses and entrepreneurs the opportunity to attend lectures, engage in discussions with Apple experts on topics like advanced manufacturing principles and printed circuit board assembly, and participate in interactive workshops in a simulated production environment featuring equipment similar to that used in Apple’s mainstream manufacturing lines.

Apple has already conducted training sessions for business leaders at the center, focusing on techniques such as machine-learning-driven quality control and advanced automation. Participants are learning to address production challenges in real-time, interact with the lab’s holographic table and advanced factory-floor equipment, and gain hands-on experience in product assembly and laser etching.

Apple also intends to expand the AMC program beyond businesses to offer hands-on training to local college students, preparing them for entry into the American manufacturing workforce.
