Apple’s highly anticipated camera-equipped AirPods may have been revealed in a recent video discovered by MacRumors within the macOS Tahoe 26.7 Release Candidate. The short clip showcases a man wearing the new AirPods, demonstrating their functionality by displaying a book cover for Visual Intelligence to recognize the title.

Accompanied by a Siri voice-over, the video hints at the potential capabilities of these innovative AirPods. According to Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman, the rumored cameras are expected to capture visual information in low resolution, serving as eyes for Apple’s AI features. This could enable Siri to provide turn-by-turn directions or offer insights about the user’s surroundings.

The design of the AirPods in the demo clip resembles a slightly bulkier version of the AirPods Pro 3, consistent with Gurman’s predictions. The longer stems are believed to accommodate the cameras, while LED lights indicate data upload to the cloud. Although the video only shows the back of the AirPods, no visible lights can be observed from that angle.

With advanced Visual Intelligence features, Apple’s AirPods are set to rival other camera-equipped AI devices like Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses. Apple is also reportedly developing its own smart glasses. Despite the AirPods’ cameras not being intended for capturing photos or videos, their discreet form factor may raise privacy concerns, following backlash against Meta’s “pervert glasses.”
