In certain regions of the world, Oppo Reno mid-range smartphones have been popular, but the UK missed out on the last two updates. The Oppo Reno 16, Reno 16 F, and the higher-end Reno 16 Pro have finally arrived to change that trend, especially with OnePlus, an Oppo subsidiary, closing its operations in the West.

After a break, the Oppo Reno 16 has made its debut – was it worth the wait? I’ve had the opportunity to use the phone as my primary device for a few weeks to find out.

I had the Pop White version of the Oppo Reno 16 for this review (also available in Purple Black), and it was amusing when a friend mistook it for the latest iPhone – there are some similarities indeed.

The Reno 16 features side railings reminiscent of an iPhone and rounded edges that offer a comfortable grip. The camera lenses also give off an iPhone-like vibe, but the resemblance isn’t as striking as the Honor 600.

Despite lacking a completely original design, the Oppo Reno 16 is visually appealing. It is slightly smaller than its predecessor, making it easier to use single-handedly. The phone exudes a premium feel with its aluminum frame and glass back, along with a visually engaging 3D graphic on the Pop White variant.

When you tilt the phone, a planet etched into the back appears to leap out with impressive depth, reminiscent of the 3D technology craze from the past. The implementation of this graphic is intriguing and adds a unique touch to the device.
