Silicon Labs Unveils Cutting-Edge R&D Lab in Austin, Texas
Silicon Labs has recently inaugurated a state-of-the-art research and development facility in Austin, Texas, with a primary focus on the design, testing, and validation of advanced semiconductors tailored for wireless Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
The grand opening of the Austin Innovation Center was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony graced by Silicon Labs executives, staff members, and dignitaries from the State of Texas.
This new laboratory received substantial support, including a $23 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF), which was established under the Texas CHIPS Act.
The infusion of funds has empowered Silicon Labs to enhance its equipment for handling advanced wafer process technologies and bolster its semiconductor development capabilities.
The outcome is an expanded research and development operation aimed at facilitating engineers in the swift development and testing of novel wireless technologies, potentially streamlining the journey from chip conception to commercialization while fortifying Texas’ position in semiconductor research and engineering.

The Austin facility is poised to bolster the development activities across Silicon Labs’ wireless product range, including its Series 3 platform.
