Perfectly Synced: AI-Matched Dubbing on Amazon Prime Video
Amazon Prime Video Introduces AI-Powered Feature for Dubbing
Amazon Prime Video has unveiled a cutting-edge AI-powered feature that synchronizes an actor’s lip movements with “human-dubbed” audio. Initially available exclusively with the English dub of the German series Maxton Hall, this innovative technology is set to be expanded to include “additional titles” in the near future.
The announcement by Prime Video highlights the utilization of AI and visual effects technologies to ensure seamless alignment between lip movements and translated speech. Notably, Meta and YouTube have recently introduced an AI-powered auto-dubbing feature for content creators, enabling them to activate a “lip sync” option that simulates creators speaking in the viewer’s preferred language.
In a move to enhance user experience, Prime Video initiated trials of “AI-aided” dubbing in English and Spanish across a dozen movies and TV series last year. Titles such as El Cid: La Leyenda, Mi Mamá Lora, and Long Lost were included in this initiative. Subscribers worldwide can currently enjoy the lip-sync dubbing feature for the first two seasons of Maxton Hall, with the third season scheduled for release on December 9th.
