Xbox picks up Kojima’s Physint after PlayStation dropped it

Xbox to Publish Physint, a Highly Anticipated Game by Hideo Kojima

In a surprising turn of events, Xbox has announced that it will be publishing the upcoming game Physint by renowned game creator Hideo Kojima. This decision came after PlayStation decided to cancel its collaboration with Kojima Productions.

PlayStation and Kojima Productions Part Ways

The news of PlayStation stepping away from collaborating with Kojima Productions was part of a series of announcements made by PlayStation, Xbox, Kojima Productions, and Hideo Kojima himself. While Sony framed the decision as a difficult one, stating that their relationship with Kojima Productions remains strong, Kojima revealed on his personal X account that Sony had unexpectedly canceled the project in June.

Xbox and Kojima Productions Join Forces

Kojima expressed his gratitude towards Xbox for becoming the new publishing partner for Physint, emphasizing their shared vision for the future. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma stated that they are honored to work with Kojima Productions and support Kojima’s ambition to challenge conventions in the gaming industry.

Expanding Beyond Games

Xbox’s collaboration with Kojima Productions is not limited to games, as they have plans to extend their partnership to film and television projects. This aligns with Kojima Productions’ earlier announcement of venturing into TV and film adaptations, including projects related to the Death Stranding series.

Exciting Future Projects

Kojima’s upcoming game Physint is described as a genre-defining action-espionage title, hinting at a spiritual successor to his iconic Metal Gear series. While the release date for Physint is expected to be around 2030, another title, OD, is also in the works and may launch sooner.
