Apple CEO Tim Cook Makes Surprising Purchase of Samsung Galaxy Fold
Samsung vs. Apple: A History of Rivalry Through Ads
In a recent Samsung ad, a man named “Tim Cook from Palmerston North” bears a striking resemblance to Apple’s former CEO, creating buzz as he promotes the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The ad, released alongside Apple’s iPhone Duo announcement, cleverly mimics Apple’s iconic product launch style, with “Tim Cook” declaring “the future is here.” Samsung even takes a playful swipe at Apple’s Tim Cook by referencing his updated profile picture.
This ad is just one example of Samsung’s long-standing tradition of poking fun at its competitor. From mocking iPhone fans queuing for new releases to highlighting Apple’s lack of certain features in comparison to Samsung devices, the rivalry between the two tech giants is evident in their marketing strategies.
While many of Samsung’s ads have a humorous tone, some take a more serious approach. In a 2024 commercial, Samsung responded to controversy surrounding Apple’s “Crush” iPad ad by emphasizing the resilience of creativity with the tagline “Creativity cannot be crushed.”
The rivalry between Samsung and Apple has not only sparked creative advertisements from the two companies but has also inspired spinoff ads from other competitors. Microsoft, for instance, once released an ad humorously suggesting that Samsung and Apple “kind of like fighting.”
