Revamped Apple TV App: Enhanced Video Features and Sleek Design

Spotify Apple TV app 2025

Spotify has finally unveiled a significant overhaul of its Apple TV app, marking the first redesign in six years. The updated app now includes video podcasts and music videos, catering to users who enjoy watching content on the big screen in their living rooms.

The streaming provider’s slow adoption of the Apple ecosystem is evident in its history. For instance, Spotify only introduced an Apple Watch app in 2018, followed by direct streaming two years later and offline playback six months after that. The company also lagged behind in incorporating Siri support and remains absent on the HomePod.

Despite the delayed release, the revamped Apple TV app is a welcome addition for Spotify fans who also use Apple TV. The new design focuses on providing a faster, smarter, and more visual experience, enhancing the overall user interface and functionality.

Among the key upgrades is the inclusion of long-overdue features such as song lyrics and queue management. Additionally, Spotify DJ offers AI-based recommendations, and users can control the app via their iPhone, iPad, or other devices using Spotify Connect.

While music videos are currently unavailable in the US and Canada, users in other regions can access them, albeit with a limited catalog. A prompt to switch to video will appear when streaming a song with an accompanying video. Video podcasts, on the other hand, are accessible worldwide, showcasing Spotify’s commitment to expanding its content offerings.

The redesign of the Apple TV app aligns with Spotify’s recent focus on video podcasting, including exclusive partnerships with platforms like Netflix to stream popular shows. While it remains uncertain if the app will address issues like the lack of support for Spotify Lossless, the updated design brings it closer to Apple Music in terms of functionality and user experience.
