Exciting Update: Gemini Live Camera and Screen Sharing Now Available on iPhone
Google has recently expanded the availability of Gemini Live camera and screen sharing to the iPhone and iPad app following the announcement at I/O 2025. Users can now take advantage of this feature to enhance their virtual interactions.
Upon accessing Gemini Live, users are prompted with a message to “Share your camera or screen with Gemini Live.” This feature allows for real-time collaboration and assistance through visual and screen sharing capabilities.
One notable change in the updated version is the introduction of two new buttons in the interface, with redesigned controls for a more user-friendly experience.
By clicking on the camera button, users can access a viewfinder that enables them to switch between the front and rear lenses. This functionality is particularly useful for capturing real-world scenarios and seeking assistance based on the visual context.
Additionally, there is a button for screen sharing within Gemini Live, allowing users to broadcast their screen for collaborative purposes. Prior to initiating the broadcast, users are required to confirm their intent and acknowledge privacy considerations.
Users can seamlessly transition between applications while utilizing the screen sharing feature, enabling them to seek guidance on specific content or pages. The ability to halt screen sharing at any time ensures privacy and control over the shared content.
It’s worth noting that the functionality of Gemini Live camera and screen sharing is powered by Google DeepMind’s Project Astra. This feature has been gradually rolling out to both free and paid accounts in the US, with the latest version (1.2025.2062302) now available for download.
To ensure access to the latest updates, users are advised to close and reopen the Gemini app from the multitasking menu. This action may prompt the server-side rollout and provide access to the new features.
