McLaren has recently filed two intriguing new trademarks in the UK and European Union, both with significant ties to the company’s founder, Bruce McLaren.

Submitted on September 22, the first trademark, “Remuera,” pays homage to the Auckland suburb where Bruce McLaren spent his formative years, and where his family ran a garage business.

The second trademark, “Muriwai,” holds a special significance as well. It relates to Bruce’s debut in competitive racing at the Muriwai Beach hillclimb in 1952, when he was just 15 years old. Bruce started his racing journey with an Austin Ulster, which was prepared in the family garage. He later named his residence in England after Muriwai, showcasing the lasting impact of his early racing experiences.

Interestingly, these trademark filings follow the recent introduction of McLaren’s new logo, inspired by the signage used at the McLaren family garage.

These strategic moves suggest McLaren’s intention to draw inspiration from Bruce McLaren’s early life as it shapes its modern identity.
