Android Central ‘will continue’ despite laying off its staff

Android Central Faces Staff Layoffs But Will Continue Publishing

Recently, Android Central, a popular blog dedicated to the Android ecosystem, made headlines when it laid off a significant portion of its staff. Despite this setback, the site’s owner, Future, has confirmed that Android Central will persist in publishing content.

Several former employees of Android Central took to social media to announce the layoffs. Among them were Shruti Shekar, Derrek Lee, Harish Jonnalagadda, and Nicholas Sutrich. Additionally, Namerah Saud Fatmi, a former senior editor, updated her LinkedIn profile to reflect her departure from the publication. Both Lee and Sutrich, the managing editor and a staff member respectively, confirmed that all remaining staff had been let go.

Despite the layoffs, the future of Android Central remains uncertain as the former employees were not informed about the site’s potential closure. However, the site has continued to release new content, although it is now being contributed by freelance writers rather than full-time staff.

Nicole Martineau, a spokesperson for Future, reassured the public that Android Central will persevere. She stated, “Future will continue to publish Android Central. We’ll share further information about the future of the site in due course.” Martineau also mentioned that there would be no additional comments provided at this time.
