Apple has recently updated its “pro” camera app, Final Cut Camera, to support the new iPhone 18 Pro models. This app was introduced two years ago alongside Final Cut Pro 2.0 for iPad, designed for capturing FCP-ready video and integrating with advanced studio setups.

Final Cut Camera is a powerful standalone app that is available for free, even if you don’t have Final Cut Pro. It has been continuously updated to align with new iPhone hardware developments, such as genlock and ProRes RAW support for the iPhone 17 Pro.

With the release of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, Apple has unveiled Final Cut Camera 2.4 to accommodate the new variable aperture and manual shooting modes of these models. This update includes a redesign of the app to enhance accessibility to settings like shutter angle, ISO, and white balance.

The redesigned version of Final Cut Camera, now compatible with all supported iPhone models running iOS 26.6 or later, offers customizable overlays for exposure and false color, improved focus peaking, and other features. Users with iOS 27 and at least an iPhone 17 Pro can utilize an HDMI-to-SDI converter for clean SDI out.

Additionally, iPhone 18 Pro users can take advantage of the variable aperture for aperture priority, shutter priority, and full manual modes. They can also apply Cinematic mode effects to regular videos, including ProRes and Apple Log formats, which can be adjusted in Final Cut Pro.
