Last Chance: Secure Your iPhone Duo This Friday with These Tips
Recently, there have been reports that Apple Store staff are advising against walk-in iPhone Duo customers on launch day. However, Apple has now confirmed that there will be limited availability for those who do decide to try their luck.
In a statement to various media outlets, Apple said, “On Friday morning, our teams look forward to welcoming customers at Apple Stores to experience iPhone Duo and the incredible iPhone line-up for themselves. Apple Stores will have limited iPhone Duo available for walk-in customers, and we’re working hard to get this revolutionary new product into customers’ hands as quickly as possible.”
While there will be some iPhone Duo units available for walk-in customers in certain countries and regions, not all locations will have inventory for in-store purchases.
Customers in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Macao, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK, and the US will have a chance to purchase an iPhone Duo on launch day. Italy will also have inventory at most stores, but not all. However, customers in China Mainland, France, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and the UAE will only be able to pick up their preorders in-store.
Reports have indicated that there may be limited stock available for walk-in purchases on launch day, with Apple retail employees being instructed to discourage customers from coming in without a preorder. Despite this, Apple is expected to have some stock reserved for in-store customers, albeit in limited quantities.
Due to high demand, there is likely to be long lines at popular Apple Stores, and the availability of iPhone Duo units may be scarce. This scarcity has led to scalping of the devices, with some sellers listing them for exorbitant prices on platforms like eBay.
To combat scalping, Apple has implemented a limit of two iPhone Duo purchases per customer, even for online orders. It is anticipated that a similar policy will be in place for walk-in customers on launch day.
