The Coolpad Cool X Wide: A Budget-Friendly Android Phone Worth Considering

The Coolpad Cool X Wide is now up for preorders on JD.com in China, priced at 999 Chinese Yuan or approximately $150. Available in black, red, or white, the phone is set to ship starting November 8th. Despite its resemblance to high-end foldable devices in terms of display, this smartphone is firmly positioned in the budget category. It runs on a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. Users have the option to upgrade to 256GB of storage for around $180 or 12GB of RAM for about $209.

Featuring a 6.38-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, the Cool X Wide offers refresh rates of up to 90Hz and a resolution of 1,158×720. The phone sports a 50-megapixel main camera on the rear and is powered by a 4,600mAh battery. While it comes with Android 16 pre-installed, the device’s connectivity is limited to 4G networks, as highlighted by Android Authority.

For those curious about the phone’s ergonomics, the Cool X Wide is nearly as tall as the iPhone 18 Pro but wider, measuring 3.72 inches compared to Apple’s 2.83 inches.
