EdTech Intuitivo secures €1.35 million funding to streamline teachers’ tasks and enter Brazilian market
Intuitivo
, a startup from Portugal specializing in educational technology, has successfully secured €1.35 million in Seed funding to support its mission of streamlining administrative tasks for teachers.
The funding round was led by Caixa Capital and the Impact Innovation Fund, managed by 3xP Global under the Venture Capital Programme of the Capitalisation and Resilience Fund (FdCR), which is administered by Banco Português de Fomento, the development bank of Portugal. Other participants in the funding round included global accelerator Techstars, COREangels Lisboa, COREangels Porto, Angels Way, and a community fund comprising 436 small investors.
Co-founder and CEO of Intuitivo, João Guimarães, expressed the company’s dedication to empowering teachers by saying, “Intuitivo was born from a teacher’s request and continues to be developed alongside educators. Our primary goal is to give educators back the precious gift of time.”
Established in 2021 by Guimarães, Duarte Oliveira, and Diogo Silva, Intuitivo offers a digital assessment platform that enables teachers to create, schedule, grade tests, and provide feedback to students across all levels of education from primary school to higher education.
The platform allows educators to design assessments from scratch, utilize a shared exercise library, or utilize AI technology to convert traditional PDF tests into interactive, auto-graded digital formats. Students can access their assessments through a single link without the need for an account or software installation.
Additionally, Intuitivo offers real-time monitoring during assessments, anti-cheating mechanisms, and detailed performance statistics for individual students, classes, and exercises. The platform addresses a significant issue highlighted by the OECD’s TALIS 2024 survey, indicating that Portuguese teachers spend a substantial amount of time on assessment and grading, leaving only 43% of their working hours for actual teaching.
Intuitivo estimates that it has saved teachers approximately 165,000 hours of administrative work in the 2025/26 academic year alone. The startup boasts 75,000 registered teachers as users and has secured over 200 contracts with municipalities, school clusters, and private educational institutions, serving more than 500 schools throughout Portugal.
Beyond alleviating teachers’ administrative burdens, Intuitivo’s centralized dashboard facilitates school administrators in tracking results and monitoring teacher engagement across the entire institution.
The newly acquired funding will be channeled towards enhancing product development and expanding the company’s team from 11 to 20 employees by the end of the year. Intuitivo also plans to utilize the funding to extend its operations beyond Portugal and enter the Brazilian market, which boasts an estimated 2.2 million teachers, significantly larger than the Portuguese market.
Commenting on the expansion plans, Guimarães stated, “Brazil is the next logical step for us: it shares our language, has a vast pool of teachers, demonstrates a high adoption rate for digital tools among educators, and some educators in Brazil are already using Intuitivo. Our aim is to replicate our success in Portugal on a much larger scale in Brazil.”
