Qualcomm has teased the introduction of a new chip designed for high-end smartphones, with the OnePlus 15R potentially being the first device to benefit from it.

The company made a teaser announcement on Weibo, a Chinese social media platform, revealing that the chip launch event will take place on 26 November.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip promises flagship performance with its powerful 8-core processor.

Unlike its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, this chip seems to be a slightly scaled-down version, tailored for the OnePlus 15R.

Adding credibility to this claim, OnePlus CEO Li Jie Louis hinted on Weibo that the upcoming OnePlus Ace 6T will be the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip.

Rumors suggest that the OnePlus Ace 6T might be rebranded as the OnePlus 15R for global markets, with some minor modifications. OnePlus recently teased the latter name.

Last year’s OnePlus 13R served as a more budget-friendly alternative to the OnePlus 13, offering slightly lower specifications and a corresponding mid-range price.

The OnePlus CEO promises an exceptionally powerful device that delivers an exceptional gaming experience, emphasizing the brand’s focus on gaming performance for the OnePlus 15 series.

Furthermore, he mentions that the OnePlus 15R will effortlessly handle games running at 165fps, confirming the impressive capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip and hinting at a 165Hz display for the OnePlus Ace 6T/OnePlus 15R, mirroring the OnePlus 15.

Considering Qualcomm’s announcement date, we anticipate an unveiling of the OnePlus Ace 6T around 26 November, with the OnePlus 15R likely to follow soon after.
