Microsoft Introduces Default Game Profiles for ROG Xbox Ally Gaming Handheld

Microsoft is unveiling a new feature on its ROG Xbox Ally gaming handheld, offering default game profiles that will enhance the gaming experience. These profiles are designed to automatically optimize frame rates and power consumption for a selection of 40 games, including popular titles like Fortnite, Gears of War: Reloaded, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Forza Horizon 5, Minecraft, and more. This functionality eliminates the need for manual adjustments to game settings, making gameplay smoother and more efficient.

Automatic Per-Game Profiles for Enhanced Gaming Performance

The ROG Xbox Ally will apply “per-game” profiles to supported titles when the handheld is unplugged. These profiles will dynamically adjust frame rates to meet specific targets, optimizing the gaming experience. By boosting frames per second (FPS) when needed, the device ensures smoother gameplay, even if it means sacrificing a bit of battery life. Conversely, FPS limits will be enforced to conserve power if the game performance exceeds the target level.

Enhanced Battery Life and Performance with Default Game Profiles

For instance, Microsoft highlights the default game profile for Hollow Knight: Silksong, which can extend battery life by nearly an hour compared to Performance mode, while still running at an impressive 120 FPS. These default game profiles also apply to other popular titles such as Halo: The Master Chief Collection, Sea of Thieves, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Microsoft plans to expand the list of supported games in the future.

Customize Your Gaming Experience with Armoury Crate Command Center

Users have the option to enable or disable default gaming profiles using the Armoury Crate Command Center. Additionally, Microsoft is rolling out updates for the Xbox ROG Ally, including enhancements to library loading speed, improved performance on the cloud gaming page, and better gamepad responsiveness post-login. These updates aim to provide a seamless and optimized gaming experience for users.
