According to Amazon spokesperson Rachel Erickson speaking to The Verge, both devices will be available for purchase starting on December 10th. The prices remain the same as initially announced in September, with the Colorsoft priced at $629.99 and the Scribe at $499.99, which includes a front light. Notably, Amazon has decided not to accept preorders for these new devices.

Key Features of Amazon’s Updated Scribes

The updated Scribes from Amazon boast larger 11-inch screens, weighing 400 grams and measuring 5.4mm thin – even thinner than an iPhone Air. These devices feature screens made with new texture-molded glass to enhance the friction when using the pen on the screen. Additionally, versions with front lighting incorporate a new system utilizing miniaturized LEDs. Furthermore, the updated Scribes come with a new pen equipped with stronger magnets for easy attachment to the device.

Availability and Pricing Details

While the Colorsoft and front-lit Scribe will be available on December 10th, the more affordable $429.99 Scribe without front light will not be released until 2026.
