Google has introduced a new Notification Organiser feature for Pixel phones, promising to enhance the efficiency of notifications.

Notification Organiser is now available for Google Pixel 9 and above with the Android 16 QPR2 update. It comes enabled by default after installation.

Users can access the feature by navigating to Settings > Notifications > Notification organiser. It is currently limited to users with English as their primary language in Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, the UK, and the US.

What does Notification Organiser involve?

This new feature automatically organises incoming notifications into sub-categories such as Promotions and News. Users can also choose to include Social and Suggested categories.

With this categorisation in place, users have the option to mute notifications from specific categories or expand notifications for a quick view.

The implementation of AI in Notification Organiser raises questions about its effectiveness, given the mixed results of AI in notification management on other platforms.
