LinkedIn has undergone a significant leadership change with the appointment of Daniel Shapero as its new CEO. Shapero, who previously served as the company’s chief operating officer, will now be reporting to Ryan Roslansky, the executive vice president overseeing LinkedIn and Microsoft Office.

This transition comes as LinkedIn achieves a major milestone, surpassing $5 billion in quarterly revenue for the first time, positioning it for an annual revenue exceeding $20 billion. LinkedIn has been a part of the Microsoft family since its acquisition for $26.2 billion in 2016.

Roslansky shared the news on LinkedIn, highlighting the promotion of Mohak Shroff to the role of president of platforms and digital work. Both Shapero and Shroff will be reporting directly to Roslansky.

Reflecting on the impact of AI on the job market, Roslansky emphasized the pivotal role that LinkedIn and Microsoft Office play in the evolving landscape of work and career growth.

Under Roslansky’s leadership as CEO since 2020, LinkedIn experienced remarkable growth, nearly tripling its revenue and expanding its user base to over 1.3 billion members, 70 million companies, and 42,000 skills.

As part of his expanded role, Roslansky also oversees Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft 365 Copilot, aligning with Microsoft’s AI strategy.

The restructuring of leadership aims to empower Roslansky to focus on the broader portfolio while Shapero takes on the day-to-day operations of LinkedIn and Shroff drives long-term technology strategy and innovation.

Having joined LinkedIn in 2008, Shapero has played various roles within the company before assuming the position of COO in 2021. In a LinkedIn post, he expressed gratitude for his journey at the company and emphasized his commitment to learning and listening in his new role as CEO.
