Silicon Valley Startup Sierra Acquires YC-Backed French AI Integration Company Fragment

Sierra, the customer service agent startup founded by Bret Taylor, has made a significant move in the tech industry by acquiring Fragment, a Y Combinator-backed French startup specializing in integrating AI into business workflows.

This marks Sierra’s third public acquisition, following the purchases of Opera Tech, an enterprise AI solutions company based in Japan, and Receptive AI, a voice agent company. Fragment’s co-founders, Olivier Moindrot and Guillaume Genthial, will now be part of the Sierra team, bringing their expertise to enhance agent development efforts in France.

In a recent blog post, Taylor and co-founder Clay Bavor expressed their excitement about the collaboration with Moindrot and Genthial, emphasizing the added value they will bring to Sierra’s operations. While the financial details of the deal remain undisclosed, PitchBook estimates that Fragment had raised approximately $2 million in its seed funding round.

Taylor, who also holds the position of Chairman of the Board at OpenAI, co-founded Sierra with Bavor after his tenure as co-CEO of Salesforce. The startup boasts a prestigious clientele including Casper, Clear, and Brex, and has secured over $630 million in funding from top investors like Sequoia and Benchmark, resulting in a valuation of $10 billion.
