Ferrari 296 spied in track-ready guise; New Challenge Stradale?

Reports suggest that Ferrari is developing a more extreme version of the 296 Speciale, aimed at track enthusiasts. Recent sightings of the mid-engined supercar undergoing testing near Maranello hint at significant upgrades in the pipeline.

The upcoming variant bears a striking resemblance to a road-legal Challenge car, featuring a swan neck rear wing akin to its track counterpart. Boasting large end plates and likely manual adjustability, the wing is complemented by a rear diffuser, mesh-type fascia with dual central exhausts, low side skirts, and a prominent front splitter, reminiscent of the 296 Challenge.

Rumors indicate that the enhanced 296 Speciale could retain the 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine but might forego the hybrid system. Instead, Ferrari could tune the V6 to unleash approximately 700 horsepower, catering to a more performance-driven experience.

Although no official confirmation regarding a new Challenge Stradale model has surfaced, speculations hint at a possible debut as early as July 2026, sparking anticipation among enthusiasts.
