Prepare your trench coat and fedora as a new noir TV series is on the horizon. Sony’s Spider-Noir trailer reveals the premiere date and Nicolas Cage as the 1930s gumshoe superhero.

Spider-Man is well-known for its successful film adaptations featuring Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland. The animated films, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, are acclaimed as some of the best superhero movies.

Sony is now introducing a new iteration of the beloved hero with Spider-Noir, set in a stylized noir New York of the 1930s.

Spider-Noir made its debut in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse as a version of Peter Parker from another reality, voiced by Nicolas Cage. This led to the creation of a standalone live-action series by Sony.

Spider-Noir is a collaboration between Sony and Amazon Prime Video, offering viewers a fresh take on the superhero.

When is the Release Date for Spider-Noir?

The Spider-Man series will premiere on MGM’s linear channel on Monday, 25 May 2026, and globally on Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, 27 May 2026. The series will consist of eight episodes.

What is the Plot of the Spider-Noir Series?

The series is based on the Spider-Man Noir comics from the Marvel Noir universe, set during The Great Depression in New York City. Ben Reilly, an alternate version of Peter Parker, gains his powers as he investigates for the Daily Bugle newspaper.

The series will showcase Reilly as an ageing detective reminiscing about his life as The Spider, the city’s only superhero.

The official logline describes the series as a story of Ben Reilly, a private investigator in 1930s New York, dealing with his past life as the city’s superhero after a personal tragedy.

Viewers have the option to stream the series in either Authentic Black & White or True-Hue Full Colour.

Cast and Crew of Spider-Noir Series

Nicolas Cage stars as Ben Reilly AKA The Spider in the Amazon series, marking his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Brendan Gleeson plays Silvermane, a New York mob boss.

Lamorne Morris, known from Fargo season 4, portrays Robbie Robertson, Reilly’s friend and editor at the Daily Bugle. Li Jun Li stars as Cat Hardy, a nightclub singer.

The series also includes Jack Huston, Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Cary Christopher, Michael Kostroff, Scott MacArthur, Joe Massingill, Whitney Rice, Amanda Schull, Andrew Lewis Caldwell, Amy Aquino, and Andrew Robinson in various roles.

Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot serve as showrunners, while Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal executive-produce the series. The first two episodes are directed by Harry Bradbeer.
