Revving into the Future: The BMW X5 Legacy Edition’s Farewell to the G05 Generation

After an impressive eight-year run, the beloved BMW X5 is preparing to bid farewell. Before production wraps up in the near future, BMW has unveiled a unique special edition. Surprisingly, this luxury SUV is available only in one country, Romania, offering a Legacy Edition boasting a distinctive color and an array of premium features.

Based on the xDrive30d variant, the G05’s final hurrah dazzles in the striking Individual Maldives Blue II Metallic shade (known internally as A15). The Legacy Edition entices potential buyers with the inclusion of the M Sport Package, an illuminated kidney grille, and 21-inch two-tone 915 M wheels. Additionally, the special edition incorporates the Innovation and Comfort Packages, along with advanced features like Driving Assistant Professional and adaptive headlights.

Instead of merely showcasing renderings, BMW Romania opted for a captivating photo shoot. The breathtaking Transbucegi, Romania’s third-highest mountain road, served as the backdrop for the X5 Legacy Edition. The SUV was expertly captured by seasoned photographer Ciprian Mihai, who skillfully highlighted its design with 20 years of experience and a touch of AI enhancement.

The creation of these captivating images was a meticulous process, involving up to 70 photos per frame and multiple exposures. Each image underwent post-production with up to 50 manually edited layers, showcasing the enduring appeal of the X5’s design, especially in this premium configuration. Despite being three years old, the G05 has maintained its elegance gracefully.

Potential buyers interested in the Legacy Edition should act promptly, as orders are accepted until the end of March. BMW Romania offers the special edition at €68,900 and provides leasing options for operational and financial convenience. This exclusive model is anticipated to be among the final X5 units manufactured at the Spartanburg Plant, with G05 production slated to conclude in July.

For those awaiting the next-generation X5, rumors suggest the arrival of the G65 in production by August. Expected variants include the 40 xDrive and 40d xDrive, with a rear-wheel-drive 40 and plug-in hybrid 50e xDrive likely joining in December. The lineup is further projected to expand in 2027 with V8-powered M60 xDrive and electric derivatives like iX5 50 xDrive and iX5 M70 xDrive. By 2028, the range is anticipated to welcome the X5 M with a potent V8 engine and debut an all-electric version.
