The Galaxy S26 Range: What to Expect

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S26 range, consisting of the traditional three starting models. While a Galaxy S26 FE may be on the horizon later this year, the fate of the S26 Edge remains uncertain.

During a recent briefing at Samsung’s London store ahead of Unpacked, I had the opportunity to speak with Kadesh Beckford, Senior Product Manager at Samsung UK. When asked about the possibility of a new Edge model in 2026, Beckford hinted that the “beyond slim” phone may have been a one-time experiment.

According to Beckford, the company has learned from the S25 Edge and has implemented those learnings into their other devices. He emphasized the importance of creating devices that are meaningful to consumers based on their insights and preferences.

Beckford also mentioned that the lack of Qi2 magnets in the Galaxy S26 range was a result of the company’s learnings from the S25 Edge, suggesting that the Edge model may have been a unique experiment.

The Future of the Galaxy S26 Edge

Rumors suggest that the Galaxy S26 Edge may have sold poorly, leading to speculation about its potential cancellation. Some even speculated that the Edge model could replace the S26+ in the lineup. However, other phone manufacturers like Apple and Motorola are also exploring super-slim handset designs, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the future of the S26 Edge.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra, while only 0.3mm slimmer than its predecessor, features a built-in S Pen and a new Privacy Display. Beckford hinted that Samsung will continue to focus on offering a diverse range of devices to cater to different customer preferences globally.
